Best dinning experience we have had in Pawleys Island, SC, no make that SC! My wife and I had such a wonderful experience at Franks's this evening. The food, ambiance, service and the music made for a perfect evening. I have been here on numerous occasions with my golfing buddies, but this evening was my wife's first visit and she can't wait to come back! I would be remiss if I didn't mention our server (Bob C) who took such great care of us. We highly recommend Frank's Outback! You could easily dismiss this place looking at it from the road, but trust me you won't be disappointed.

Great dinner, group of 4 setting outside tonight weather about 75 degrees today October 2, 2014. It was busy but our waiter Steven did a great job with our group and other tables in our area. A great time under the trees with the moon braking thru. Seafood is always fresh, try the oyster appitizer.

Great New Years Eve dinner. Unlike some places, the pared down menu had plenty of choices. Our waiter, Steve, made it a real pleasant experience .

Delicious food, good gluten free menu selection, including some gluten free deserts. Great atmosphere and service: looking forward to coming back!

Hands Down- eat outside, it's gorgeous! Our server Matt was great! We had wood fired pizzas- the shrimp & chicken was fabulous as was the lamb & goat cheese! The spinach salad w fried goat cheese also amazing! A definite date night place- was glad the kids stayed back at the cottage!

This would be five stars but I was not that happy with our waiter. Great place to come while on vacation for a nice dinner. The outdoor seating area is amazing and makes you feel like you are in a jungle. There was a nice breeze and the band playing in the background made for an exceptional evening. I encourage you to make reservations well in advanced ( another frustrating thing as it took me over 20 minutes on the phone, after being transferred many times and on hold to make a reservation). We were seated promptly when we arrived and our drink orders were taken. They had a small draft list but all at a very reasonable price. I went with a local white ale from Myrtle Beach. Also many mixed drinks of choice and others in my party ordered rum and coke. We were served bread which was warm and delicious.the appetizers are all seafood and went with the fried oysters which everyone loved. The entrees come with a house salad and here is where my issue came in. I ordered a salad from the menu and asked for romain or iceberg lettuce instead of the mixed greens which are not my favorite. The waiter said they have to charge extra for this which I find to be absolutely ridiculous but fine. Then when my salad came out all that was there was lettuce. I had to ask for tomatoes and the cucumbers it was supposed to come with. Once this was all solved our entrees were served which were all delicious. I went with a small plate which was not small at all of mashed potatoes and boneless spare ribs, the sauce it was served with was outstanding. Others in my sorry order the steak which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus and the grouper entree, which they are known for. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful and the food tasted as good as it looked. I wish we left room for dessert as they had a very nice dessert menu.

Delicious dinner at Frank's Outback!! I came to Frank's years ago when I traveled here for work, do the Outback was new to me so I figured I'd try it. Plus it was a lovely evening! Although the parking lot was packed as was the courtyard and bar, I was seated immediately. My waitress, Angie, recommended a wonderful Super Tuscan red wine! Although everything on the menu sounded scrumptious, I wanted a small plate and salad because I had a filling lunch. At Angie's suggestion I opted for the beet and arugula salad. One of my favorite combinations! And it didn't disappoint!! Yum! I'm a huge scallops fan, so that was easy! Two large scallops served over creamed corn and crispy kale. Absolutely delicious and perfect amount! Next time I go I hope I can be with someone do I can share an appetizer or two! Several of them looked great! Angie was terrific and made a perfect meal and evening even better!!

Food is good, but the atmosphere is great. We entertained our friends Dan and Kathy from California. Our waiter was very attentive and funny too. Beat salad was my favorite, the small plate was OK, but would have selected another next time. Decent wine menu. Wine by the glass is affordable and choices pretty OK. Prices are a bit steep for what you ultimately get.

Frank's Outback has perhaps the most romantic atmosphere of any restaurant I have dined at. It is not on the water, however do not miss this. The whole Frank's Outback is outside, but with a huge cover. The interior is nicer than I could have imagined. Very stylish decor, plants, beautiful lamps, as well as soft quiet live music. There are a variety of table types, which give the restaurant even more added character. The food was excellent, and the service by our waiter was also excellent. It really killed me not to give this restaurant 5 stars, however there were a few issues that made that not possible. First, when we were "greeted" by the hostess, she was a bit snotty. She barely even lifted her head, even though no one else was there. When I realized she was not going to speak, I gave her our name, to which she simply looked at the seater, and told him our table number. Not a word to us. The other issue was, the bus boy spilled water all over our table, and one of the guests. This in itself is no big deal, these things happen, and in his defense, I am not sure he realized it got all over on of the guests. He did see it all over the table though, but never said a word, no apology, no clean up, he just went to the next table. While these small issues unfortunately kept me for rating as 5 stars, it is a 5 star restaurant, and if anyone asked me where to eat in this area, Frank's Outback would be my recommendation without hesitation.

My husband and I strolled in without a reservation on a weekend- big mistake. However, the manager created a seat for us at the old oak tree stump (they recently cut it down) bar and let us wait it out. We were told it would be 45 minutes but it was closer to 20 and we were led to the back where it was lit up with lights in the trees and nice and quiet. Perfect! We had ahi tuna nachos that were amazing and our entrees were, too. Service was also great. I think the best part is that the evening was just smooth sailing the whole way through. We will definitely go back, although I don't think I will ever want to sit inside again- great outdoor seating is hard to come by!

Our food and service was fantastic. Some of the best on Pawleys Island. The atmosphere upon arrival was gorgeous and the ambiance is casual, yet romantic. Our beverages were delicious. However, while eating we began to realize there was a large insect infestation. Throughout our dinner we saw multiple cockroaches on the floor boards, plastic vinyal walls. Crawling around peoples feet. It seemed as if everyone else was ignoring them. I could not get comfortable. At every glance there was another cockroach. Dinner became unbearable, my husband and I could not enjoy the ambiance or the food, because we were disgusted by the amount of large cockroaches crawling around everywhere. We left with a creepy crawling feeling all over which made us forget about the delicious food and beautiful atmosphere and the only thing memorable became the cockroaches ewwweweeew ahhhhhhhh

Franks Outback is simply a great restaurant. Though a bit of a drive for those visiting Myrtle Beach, I believe it's worth it. I had the hangar steak, cooker perfectly medium rare. We ordered baskets of wonderful parmesan truffle fries and a tomato and mozzarella starter dish - all of which were wonderful. I regret not being able to review this place immediately after dining - so much gets lost a week after dining there. I also remember our waitress was top notch. We were a reasonably large party of 8 and had a nook all to ourselves. The only downside was that to get to our table you had to walk through the kitchen. It was just totally awkward - along with the heat rushing at you from the stoves and ovens, you had to be sure not to bump into any of the staff bustling back and forth.

Our recent experience here sucked. We sat outside again and it was unbearable, but that's beside the point. The biggest disappointment was the service. Our waitress moved at a very, very, very slow pace and seemed not to care that we sat there for over half an hour before she even told us the specials. Her actions were very deliberate and passive aggressive, maybe because we were out of towners, but I can't be sure. I know things move slower in the south, but it was crazy. It took almost an hour to even get our appetizers. Kind of unacceptable.

Consistently great food and service. They never disappoint. We make sure to visit every time we are in town.

Went to Frank's after a round of golf without a reservation. Was able to get a table and have a fabulous meal.

Franks Outback is beautiful. The setting is downright whimsical, with white holiday lights strung on bushes, candlelight, and a mini pond/waterfall with a wooden bridge to the bar. Strategically placed curtains and heat lamps enable the restaurant to be as outdoor or indoor as the weather demands, and it always looks lovely. It feels like a special occasion to be there. The waitstaff is friendly and effective at making diners feel special. The food is delicious and the menu is interesting.

Ate an early dinner (6:30) on weekday. Not crowded at all. Fun, casual outdoor setting for the beach. Crab cakes were super. Grits a bit dry. Carmel cake like no other we've ever had...if you go, you must save room for this dessert.

The atmosphere at Frank's Outback is hands down the best at Pawleys Island. I would go so far as to say its magical. The food, however, isn't in the same league. I've eaten there numerous times over the past twelve years and sadly, the quality has reduced tremendously over time. Had the beet salad which was good. Followed it with the Hoisin Shrimp which was terrible. Think Panda Express. Sorely disappointed. From now on I will stick with a cocktail and soak up the ambiance before heading out to one of the many great dining options around.

Beautiful and upscale decor and setting. Probably the nicest outdoor dining I've experienced. Although it was a hot July day in PI, the fans and cover kept it cool enough. The bar was fantastic for a drink with a large selection of wine and also great beers on tap (Yuengling, Blue Moon, Stella...). The service was outstanding. I suppose that Frank's Outback is one of the most expensive places to eat in Pawley's Island. I don't have an issue with that, except for the fact that each of the entrees ordered in my party were average (Lamb Chops, Tuna Steak, the "signature" Grouper). For a very expensive dining outing, the food wasn't exceptionally flavorful, well seasoned, or inventive. This was definitely a disappointment. My vote - GO to Frank's Outback, enjoy the classy atmosphere at the bar. You can appreciate the terrific service with an appetizer (shrimp and artichoke heart dish - awesome). Perhaps consider a pizza (there are many reasonably-priced options here), and a salad (delicious homemade dressings). Just skip the entree and save yourself $25-28 per person.

This place is a great summertime choice. It is located behind Frank's main restaurant. Grab a drink at the outside bar before sitting down. It is located in the middle of the outdoor seating area. Very cool fun place. They serve up steaks and seafood which are all really good. This is high end dining in a relaxed beach setting.

Food great. Service ok. Don't think hostess had any blood running through her veins. Cold and uncaring upon entry and leaving. Wouldn't recommend to anyone unless they were hungry, as I said the food was great. At these prices the entire experience should be wonderful. It wasn't .

Frank's Outback is fine dining. Upon entering, there are Koi ponds, Christmas lights around trees, and curtains that really remind you of either tropical or wedding like. Though it has outside ambiance, and gets hot or cold depending on the season, you are not truly outside. The area is tented and with heaters and multiple heavy duty fans, the weather changes aren't too extreme. The outside bar is very interesting as they built the bar around a huge Oak tree stump, very neat talking point. They also have nightly visitors, many many cats. The cats are more than welcome to wander Outback at Frank's because we are in their dwelling - One of the cat's who is no longer with us, Stumpy, is a famous staple at this bar. Be sure to ask your wait staff about this endearing story. The menu is outstanding. Mind you, it changes frequently so at the time of reading this my opinions might be outdated. There is a fantastic filet Mignon on the menu that comes with cherry tomatoes and either basil or garlic mashed potatoes and broccolini - My favorite steak hands down. Not in the mood for steak? They have a wide variety of wood fired pizza's! With interesting combinations like Barbecue and BLT. Of course the traditional Margherita Pizza with tomatoes and basil is out of this world with drizzled olive oil on top. You might want to wander back to the back room in the kitchen to scope things out, or even pop inside to see where you would like to eat the next night! Frank's is even finer with inside dining and a little more expensive menu. But if dining outside, you can always order from the inside menu. This is a great place during the summertime, and Friday/Saturday night usual for all of the locals!

Pricey but well worth it. I called today(Thursday) for an early reservation tonight for 7 and they said they had nothing until 9. They opened at 5:30 and we got there at 5:31. We were offered a table in their newer back patio, which basically meant not under a tent. We had a few aps, calamari, fried oysters, and a shrimp special and they were all good. A few of us ordered specials for our entrees as well and were not disappointed. I had a blackened mahi with jalapino grits ($28.50) that was great. Very good service, greeted by our server immediately and took our drink order first thing. 2-3 other people were always unobtrusively there with water refills, bread, or bussing. I made a small special request for my young daughter and they did it with a smile. They had someone playing nice background music up front, not too loud and gave it a nice ambiance. Really enjoyed our night, sometimes I go to nice places and I know I am going to have to pay for being at a "nice place" and I feel that is the majority of what I paid for - here I felt like I paid for a very good meal, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely highly recommend and we will be back.
